This is our 5th year that AAHP and our community partners have come together to help inform, educate and empower African Americans and people of African descent in Montgomery County to address the common health issues that impact their lives, their families and their communities, said AAHP Executive Committee Chair, Pat Grant. Through this event we hope to impact hundreds of lives and arm them with the tools that they need to live healthier lifestyles, she added. This years theme is M.O.V.E. (Making Obesity Virtually Extinct). Attendees will experience several exciting group fitness activities such as Zumba, KaribFit, (Caribbean & African dance fitness), GoGo Fitness, Hand Dancing workshops, and Hip Hop Fitness. There will be the Taste of Nutrition live cooking demonstrations and food tastings with several nutritionists and be able to visit more than 20 information booths. Food trucks. In addition, free screenings for blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, body mass index, vision, cardiovascular health and HIV/AIDS testing. Mental health and smartphone apps workshops will be provided during the event. There will also be activities for children including a healthy living puppet show. Our opening ceremony will include an African drumming performance by Jabari Exum who was the drumming and fight scene choreographer for the movie Black Panther.
